Born in West Yorkshire, England in 1976, Appleton began playing English 8-ball when he was 15 years old. He won over 35 major titles at English 8ball and over 200 titles and was ranked world number one six times.
One of the most recognized and respected names in the pool world, Darren Appleton has, in just ten years in the sport, become a mainstay at the top of the professional game and has built a resume worthy of being considered one of the greatest players of all time.
Appleton is the founder of the World Pool Series.
